Remarkable guilloche on the rectangle dial was finished by Jaeger LeCoultre’s artisan guillocheur. Without proffesional knowladge and plenty of experience, it’s hard to finish the fine and classic guilloche, although there are modern machines. The rhombic check produces weave-like effect. After that, craftsmen cover semi-transparent enamel on the guilloche dial. The hue of every dial matches with enamel painting on the backs. Iconic hour markers, princess hands and track-typed scales on the “Deco Art” dial show sincere respect. Jaeger LeCoultre’s rare handcrafts “Métiers Rares” celebrates the works of Ferdinand Hodler, and it expresses the “love” for art and culture.
Three Works of Ferdinand Hodler
In Ferdinand Hodler’s later years, he created some elegant color lake landscapes. With powerful scents, extraordinary charm, they have enduring value to today. Jaeger-LeCoultre selected three from them, and they are separately Lake Geneva with Mont Blanc in the Morning Light, Lake Thun with Symmetric Reflections Before Sunrise, and Lake Thun, Symmetric Reflection. The first painting matches with the gray enamel dial. The second painting comes with the green enamel dial, and the last one and the blue dial is a good match.
Grand Feu Enamel
To show the quite, calm beauty of the three works, the enamel craftsman spent at least 50 hours on every painting, royal to original works. It’s a huge challenge for the craftsman to draw them on the metal back at 3 square centimeter. The key to reproduce the painting-Lake Geneva with Mont Blanc in the Morning Light is how to grasp precisely the pink gold tone in the morning. At sunrise, the sky and the lake water interlace together. The contrast tone shows peace and serenity. As for Lake Thun with Symmetric Reflections Before Sunrise, the craftsman invested a lot of energy to mix the clear blue. Rocks are visible throughout the clear water. All shows fine craftsmanship. As for Lake Thun, Symmetric Reflection, it tells the reflection of the Alps in the water. The hue of light blue and the blue dial is a good match.
